Picture description

Okita was a young female employee of a teahouse in Asakusa, and is said to have been one of the models favored by ukiyoe artist Utamaro.

He was probably born in 1778 and became a model for a portrait when he met Utamaro Kitagawa in 1793, when he was around 15 years old.
